There are three ultrasound boards that are required in order to become certified. These three ultrasound boards include abdomen, OB/GYN, and Ultrasound Physics and Instrumentation.
Once these three ultrasound boards are complete and passed (70% or above), then more ultrasound boards can be taken for further certifications and subspecialties. Some of these extra ultrasound boards include fetal echocardiography, vascular, breast, neurosonology, and cardiac. It is a great advantage to take more than just the three basic ultrasound boards.
If you choose to take more ultrasound boards for more certifications and subspecialties, you are often given paid bonuses, increased overall pay, and it is also easier to find a job because of you extra credentials. With studying for your ultrasound boards it is important to know all of the material that could appears on the ultrasound boards.
Also, it helps to study for the ultrasound boards in an organized manner. The Ultrasound Flashcards program is an excellent way to be well prepared for anything that may be asked on the ultrasound boards.
